At Cork ARC Cancer Support House we offer one-to-one and group counselling sessions to support you in your cancer journey. All counselling is provided free of charge.
If you or somebody close to you received a cancer diagnosis it’s normal to experience worry, stress, anger, fear and anxiety. Everyone is different and everyone reacts differently. It can be difficult to talk to your family or friends about these feelings and fears.
Cancer counselling is case-specific and is a great support in times of crisis or change. Our counselling team at Cork ARC is made up of professionally qualified and accredited volunteers who provide high-quality, confidential and therapeutic support. This encourages our visitors to express and reflect on how to manage the life challenges and transitions that cancer brings. Feeling supported and safe can help you understand these reactions and to manage them.
Our counselling supports are available by appointment in Cork ARC’s centres in Cork city and Bantry.
One-to-one counselling gives you the space and support to deal with your cancer journey in a safe and private environment. It helps you to understand and manage your feelings and thoughts while supporting the development of coping skills to help you work through your cancer journey.
In Cork ARC Cancer Support House, we provide short term counselling over 6 to 8 sessions and all counselling is provided free of charge. Our team of counsellors encourage you to express and reflect on how to manage the life challenges that cancer brings.
Group counselling is a form of counselling where a small group of people meet to discuss, interact and explore issues with each other and their group leader. Our group counselling sessions provide a safe, supportive and comfortable place for you to work out any problems, thoughts, or emotional concerns you may have. Group sessions involve sharing your experiences and listening to those of others.
Group counselling can offer a sense of togetherness and connection with others experiencing similar, or different, situations to you. They can help to offer you a different perspective in a positive and encouraging environment.
